About Us
Established in 1870, the Marion-Polk County Medical Society is a proactive advocate of healthcare providers and patient rights in both public and private sectors. The Medical Society serves healthcare providers and their patients by promoting ethical, educational and clinical standards for the medical profession. Membership to the Marion-Polk County Medical Society is open to medical doctors (MD), doctors of osteopathy (DO), physician assistants (PA), advanced practice nurses (APRN) and doctors of podiatric medicine (DPM) who practice in Marion or Polk counties, as well as those who have retired from practice.
We are not the Medical Society of fifty, twenty, or even five years ago. The Board is in the process of refocusing the Society to address the changing landscape of health care and the needs of health care professionals and their families.
Famous surgeon and writer Atul Gawande said “We are witnessing a battle for the soul of American medicine.” Only by joining together can providers protect their ability to best serve their patients while maintaining work-life balance and career satisfaction.
If you are currently a member, we welcome your ongoing participation, and encourage you to tell us how we can better serve your needs. If you are not a member, now is the time to join. We cannot accomplish our goals without your participation!
